Luxury Weekend in Saint-Tropez

March 5, 202610 min read

Saint-Tropez is not a place you rush through — it is a place you arrive at, preferably by sea. A weekend yacht charter transforms the experience from tourist to insider: morning swims in Ramatuelle coves, afternoons at Pampelonne's legendary clubs, and evenings on the old port without ever fighting for parking.

Day one: arrival and Pampelonne

Depart from Saint-Tropez port or nearby Port Grimaud on Friday afternoon. Anchor off Pampelonne Beach for a sunset swim — the water here is shallow, warm and sheltered. Dinner reservation at Club 55 or Tahiti Beach (book 2–3 weeks ahead in peak season). Return to the yacht for nightcap on deck under the stars; most weekend charters include two nights aboard.

Day two: coves and the old port

Morning anchor at Plage de l'Escalet or Cap Taillat — two of the most beautiful coves on the Var coast, accessible only by boat or a long walk. Lunch on board with provisions from the Saint-Tropez market (Les Halles, Place aux Herbes). Afternoon tender into the old port for shopping and aperitif at Bar du Port or Sénéquier. Evening: dinner at La Vague d'Or or aboard with a private chef.

Day three: Porquerolles or return cruise

If your charter extends to Sunday, a morning crossing to Porquerolles island (1.5 hours) offers national park anchorages and turquoise water without the Tropez crowds. Alternatively, a leisurely return along the coast via Cavalaire or La Croix-Valmer completes the weekend. Disembark by 17:00 for a seamless transfer to Nice or Marseille airport.

Choosing the right yacht for a Tropez weekend

Weekend charters typically run Friday 17:00 to Sunday 17:00. A 20–30 m motor yacht with 3 cabins suits couples and families; a 25 m+ vessel with larger deck space is ideal for groups of 8–10 entertaining at Pampelonne. Minimum charter duration in peak season is often 3 days; shoulder season may allow 2-day bookings.

Concierge essentials

The difference between a good weekend and an exceptional one is reservations. Beach clubs, harbour tables and private chefs book out weeks ahead in July and August. Veyora's concierge handles Club 55, Bagatelle, Gaio, helicopter transfers from Nice and provisioning — so your only job is to arrive.

When to visit and what to budget

Peak season: mid-June through early September. Best value: May, late September and early October with warm water and empty coves. Weekend charter rates from €8,000–25,000 depending on yacht size, plus APA for fuel, food and port fees. Crypto and bank transfer accepted.
